Shockwave Therapy
Shockwave Therapy is now available for our Raglan Patients
Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses acoustic waves to stimulate healing in muscles, tendons, and joints. It is commonly used to treat chronic pain conditions such as plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendonitis, tennis elbow, and shoulder calcifications. The therapy works by delivering high-energy sound waves to the affected area, improving blood circulation, reducing inflammation, and promoting tissue regeneration.
During a session, a handheld device is applied to the skin, emitting pulses that penetrate deep into the tissues. Patients may feel mild discomfort, especially if the area is highly inflamed, but the treatment is generally well tolerated. Each session lasts about 10–20 minutes, and most patients require multiple treatments over several weeks for optimal results.
One of the key benefits of shockwave therapy is that it encourages the body’s natural healing process without the need for medication, injections, or surgery. Many patients experience pain relief after just a few sessions, with continued improvement over time. Additionally, there is little to no downtime, allowing patients to return to their daily activities shortly after treatment.
Shockwave therapy is considered safe, with minimal side effects, such as temporary redness or mild swelling in the treated area. It is an excellent option for individuals suffering from stubborn musculoskeletal pain that has not responded to conventional treatments. If you're struggling with chronic pain or an injury, consult a healthcare provider to see if shockwave therapy is the right solution for your condition.
